DESCRIZIONE:
THE HOUSE
Casa Monterchi is a beatiful townhouse with lots of character - wooden celings and beams, terracotta floors, stone door surrounds and 19th century frescoed ceilings. The house has a wonderful balcony looking onto the church and the Mediaeval walls, and also a beatiful view from the rear of the top floor out over the rooftops to the countryside below the village.
The house is on an idyllic and tranquil street a few steps from the main piazza - open any of the windows and enjoy the sounds of a real Tuscan village come in - the chatter of voices and the peal of the church bells by day and the peace of the evening.
The house is built on three storeys plus a cellar and attic. Entering on the ground floor, there is a small hallway with the kitchen (with wood burning Italian Aga-style cooker and gas cooker) and rich chestnut beamed ceiling and a window opening out onto the street. Across the other side of the hall is a lovely bathroom with small corner bath.
Taking the terracotta steps at the rear of the hallway leads to the first floor, with a large living room and separate dining room, opening onto the balcony which runs the length of the house. Both of the first floor rooms have beautiful tiled floors (one patterned ceramic and one cotto) and C19th frescoed ceilings. The living room has a sofa bed for extra guests.
Wooden steps lead to the second floor, with two double bedrooms with windows facing the church and village, and another bathroom with shower and a wonderful view clear over the rooftops to the countryside below.
