The existence of the Capri island is witnessed ever since the Roman Age, when Tacito wrote in his Annales of this villa as private residence of Tiberio, who chose it for its strategical position.
The internals of this beautiful old castle were afterwards plundered and used to embellish the royal palace of Caserta and some other important villas of the age.
The marble floors and also statues, pots, bas-reliefs and cameos were taken away.
An old aqueduct which led water to the villa was destroyed and the lead that constitutes the piping was fused.
The construction has a quadrangular shape with crenellated walls reinforced with two towers on the corners, while in the middle there was the fortification and the private chapel where there was a famous painting by Crisculo, now removed and placed in the cathedral of Santo Stefano.
Around 1283 Carlo D’Angị began to reinforce the defensive structure of the castle and devolves the surveillance to some inhabitants of the island.
The role of this unique villa in the sequence of events that involved Capri was undoubtedly very important. It is, in fact, often mentioned as a seat of temporal power during various battles.
In the 1912 only remained some remains of the walls of the castle, that passed afterwards in the hands of many important people who created this fabulous villa, castle equipped with all the comforts.
The villa is disposed on two levels.
The ground floor comprises five bedrooms two of which have en suite bathroom, wardrobe, wide living room, galleria, three bathrooms, kitchen and storage.
