Nicoya
NICOYA - LUXURY SEAFRONT VILLAS FOR SALE IN COSTA RICA
When Gil Gonzalez Dávila entered Nicoya in 1523 he came across the largest cacicazgo on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The current name of the region comes from the Nahuatl Necoc Īāuh which means "with water on both sides", being the region itself between two rivers. The Spanish conquest was slow and gradual and Nicoya proved to be an important link between the conquistadors in foreign lands and the Spanish colonies of Panama and Nicaragua. Moreover, an almost unique case in Latin America, the conquest was mostly non-violent but ended with the enslaving of the natives, forced to serve the Spanish nobles. Independence came only in 1824, when Nicoya joined the Republic of Costa Rica.
In this tropical land, dotted with stone buildings dating back to the pre-colonial period and typically colonial style villas, Romolini Immobiliare offers a selection of prestigious villas, estates by the sea and exclusive residences for sale.
