TRAPANI - LUXURY VILLA AND SEA VIEW APARTMENTS FOR SALE

According to mythology, a sickle that fell from the sky formed the peninsula on which Drepanon (Δρέπανον, meaning scythe or sickle) was built. Historically, the city was probably founded by the Elimi. The position of the center allowed Trapani to prosper thanks to commerce.

Between the 9th and 8th centuries BC the city allied itself with Carthage and was the last Carthaginian stronghold in Sicily together with Lilibeo. In 241 BC the city was conquered by the Romans who did not forgive the alliance of Trapani with Carthage. The city went through a period of decline and quickly depopulated.

The rebirth only took place with the Arabs and the Normans who set the city to the center of an efficient commercial network.

The Middle Ages and the modern age saw the succession of French and Spanish until 1738 when the Bourbons assumed the leadership of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. The new rulers reclaimed the marshes that was left around the city, but proved too inclement in suppressing the riots of 1848-1849. In 1860 the city voted favorably for the entry into the Kingdom of Italy.

Among the most interesting monuments of the city, we must remember the Church of the Jesuit College, the Church of Purgatory, the Lazzaretto of Trapani, Palazzo Cavarretta, the Tower of Ligny and the Castle of La Colombaia.

In this city rich in history and charm, Romolini Immobiliare offers a selection of villas overlooking the sea, prestigious apartments and medieval towers for sale.
