Viseu
VILLAS AND WINE ESTATES FOR SALE IN VISEU, PORTUGAL
The center of Viseu dates back to the Celtic period, which acted as a substratum to the subsequent Romanization.
With the end of the Empire, the region was occupied by the Suebi and the Visigoths that spread Christianity throughout the region. The arrival of the Arabs from North Africa brought Islam to the region and the city took the name of Bazu. In 1058 the Christians led by Ferdinand I of León reconquered the city and made it a bishop's seat. With Ferdinand's death, who had brought peace to the region, Spain advanced its claims on Portugal by launching military expeditions to the region. The fortifications built on the borders between Portugal and Spain allowed Portugal to remain independent and prosper throughout the centuries.
Among the main monuments of the city are the Viseu Cathedral, the Palácio do Gelo, the Viseu's Forum and the Igreja da Misericórdia.
In this city rich in history, with monuments in Hispano-Moorish style, Romolini Immobiliare offers a selection of luxury villas and wineries for sale.
