On the hills of Chianti, in the province of Florence, we find this small 4.8-hectare organic wine estate with Chianti Classico DOCG / Toscana IGT vineyards and a boutique accommodation business. The property is well established: the vineyards allow producing up to 10,000 bottles of wine per year, while the guests can rely on 7 bedrooms. A small olive grove (180 trees) allows producing roughly 500 liters of excellent extra-virgin DOP olive oil.
DESCRIPTION OF THE BUILDINGS
The farmhouse (339 m² – 3,648 ft², 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms) is a rural building, recently renovated, spread over two levels. On the ground floor, the central entrance divides the kitchen, a dining room, and a large lounge. The corridor leads to a service bathroom and the first bedroom with private bathroom. From the living room, there is access to a secondary room with a service bathroom. On the first floor is the sleeping area, composed of four bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.
The old barn (214 m² – 2,303 ft², 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms) has been completely renovated and today hosts the tasting room for the company’s products with a service bathroom and a two-level residence. On the ground floor are two kitchens (one habitable, the other with access to the veranda) and a bedroom with a bathroom; the upper floor is entirely occupied by a beautiful suite with a private bathroom and walk-in closet.
A paved stone courtyard separates the two buildings and offers a pleasant outdoor living area ideal for outdoor dinners and gatherings. The 4,300-m² garden behind the house hosts a 12 × 6 m swimming pool overlooking the vineyards.
Completing the property is a small wine cellar (42 m² – 452 ft²) with various sheds to shelter agricultural tools and equipment.
Tuscany - Florence - Greve in Chianti
Chianti, nestled in the heart of Tuscany, is one of Italy's most iconic regions, renowned for its rolling hills, ancient vineyards, and world-class wines. Stretching between Florence and Siena, the Chianti area is characterized by its breathtaking landscape of olive groves, medieval villages, and cypress-lined roads, embodying the quintessential image of Tuscany.
At the heart of Chianti’s identity is its wine. The Chianti Classico, made predominantly from the Sangiovese grape, is among Italy’s most famous red wines. Recognizable by the black rooster (gallo nero) symbol on its label, Chianti Classico is known for its balance of boldness and elegance, offering flavors of ripe cherries, earthy undertones, and subtle hints of spices. Vineyards throughout the region produce wines that reflect the unique terroir of Chianti’s sun-drenched hills and rich soil, and wine lovers can visit historic estates to sample vintages, explore cellars, and learn about centuries-old winemaking traditions.
Chianti’s landscape is dotted with charming villages like Greve, Radda, and Castellina, each offering a unique experience. Greve in Chianti serves as the unofficial gateway to the region and hosts one of the most famous wine festivals, the Rassegna del Chianti Classico, where local producers showcase their best wines. Radda and Castellina, perched on hilltops, are steeped in medieval history, with cobblestone streets, ancient fortifications, and views over the surrounding vineyards.
Beyond wine, Chianti is rich in culture and history. Many of its towns and estates were strategic points during the Middle Ages, and castles like Castello di Brolio not only offer insight into the region’s past but also produce some of the finest wines. The surrounding landscape, with its patchwork of vineyards, olive groves, and forests, is perfect for leisurely drives, bike rides, or even hiking trails that lead through historic paths and offer panoramic views.
Chianti’s charm also lies in its intimate connection with nature. The vineyards, which change with the seasons from lush green in the summer to golden and red hues in the autumn, create a serene and idyllic setting. Olive groves produce some of Tuscany’s finest extra virgin olive oil, another hallmark of the region’s agricultural tradition.
In every glass of wine and every vista across the hills, Chianti embodies the very essence of Tuscany. Its blend of rich history, cultural heritage, and natural beauty, combined with its exceptional wines, makes it a destination that offers both sensory and scenic delights. Whether exploring its historic villages or savoring its renowned wines, Chianti invites visitors to experience the best of Tuscany’s rural soul.
EXTERIOR AND AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION
The estate covers a total surface of roughly 4.8 hectares (11.9 acres) and the whole production has been carried out with certified organic methods (ICEA) for over 20 years.
The most important part is the vineyard (2.5 ha), registered as Chianti Classico DOCG and Toscana IGT. Made up of Sangiovese, Merlot and Vermentino varieties, the vineyard is currently used to produce between 8,000 and 10,000 bottles of wine per year.
- Chianti Classico DOCG: Sangiovese 100%
- Toscana Rosso IGT: Merlot 100%
- Toscana Bianco IGT: Vermentino 100%
The is a small high-density olive grove (5,700 m²) with roughly 180 trees of mostly Moraiolo and Frantoio cultivars producing roughly 500 liters of DOP extra-virgin olive oil per year.
The remaining surface is covered in arable land with fruit trees (4,500 m²) and coppice woodland (8,000 m²).
