CASTLE FOR SALE IN A PANORAMIC POSITION IN VALDICHIANA, TUSCANY
Tuscany - Arezzo - Arezzo
Interiors: 3,500 sqm
Bedrooms: 15
Bathrooms: 15
Exteriors: 14.50 ha
Olive grove: 2.33 ha
Perched on a hill near Arezzo, with breathtaking views of the entire Valdichiana and Lake Trasimeno, an 11th-century medieval castle for renovation for sale. The building (3,000 m² – 32,280 ft²) is built around a charming central courtyard with a well and comprises three main levels plus the tower, which has an additional floor (for a total of 46 rooms). The rest of the building has undergone some consolidation and restoration works in the past years, but these have not been completed.
The castle has large halls with very high ceilings, a stately appearance and with most of the finishes still intact. The floors of some sections were entirely dismantled during the work, and the terracotta tiles are all preserved for future repositioning. The ceilings feature typical wooden beams on the upper floors and beautiful brick vaults on the lower levels.
Two ruined buildings (about 500 m² – 5,380 ft²) could be restored together with the castle to create an independent guest house or common spaces for ceremonies and events.
The property is enhanced by an elegant 8,000-m² English-style park that rests on the castle wall and offers unparalleled views of the Valdichiana. This open space is perfect for ceremonies and weddings and could easily accommodate a swimming pool. Access is via a quaint tree-lined driveway that climbs up the hill from the public road.
To the rear of the building then lies a large olive grove (about 2.3 hectares) and a large forest (11.4 ha) that could be used as a source of income by cutting wood.

290-HA ESTATE WITH CASTLE AND FARMHOUSES TO BE RESTORED FOR SALE IN UMBRIA
Umbria - Terni - Acquasparta
Interiors: 14,980 sqm
Bedrooms: 80
Bathrooms: 80
Exteriors: 289.40 ha
Olive grove: 2.92 ha
In a hilly and panoramic position in southern Umbria, medieval hamlet with castle and restaurant for sale. The property consists of several buildings (over 14,000 m², mostly to be restored) scattered within an estate of 289.4 hectares: the possibilities of use are many, from simple agricultural estate with farmhouses and apartments for rent (Agriturismo), to luxury hotel with golf course.
The castle (2,700 m² – 29,052 ft²) is an imposing building of medieval original placed on the top of a hill, overlooking the entire valley. The earliest certain records of the fortress date from 962 with a deed signed by Emperor Otto II, but the castle’s present appearance is the result of two successive reconstructions and extensions dating between the 14th and 16th centuries. The castle’s military function finally ceased in the early 18th century, when the building was fully consolidated and renovated before being converted into a farm.
The building retains much of its original finish, preserved through restoration and conservation over the years. Particularly striking are the halls in the basement characterized by immense vaulted ceilings and the central courtyard, a perfect location for weddings and private events. On the upper floors the halls are those typical of aristocratic settings, with coffered ceilings and plastered walls.

MEDIEVAL CASTLE TO BE RESTORED FOR SALE IN AREZZO, TUSCANY
Tuscany - Arezzo - Arezzo
Interiors: 1,458 sqm
Bedrooms: 20
Bathrooms: 20
Exteriors: 6.48 ha
In the hills between Arezzo and Anghiari, originally guarding the Valcerfone, medieval castle to be restored for sale. The original nucleus of the property, consisting of a watchtower that is still partially visible, can be dated to the 11th century (as Repetti also writes in his Dizionario geografico fisico storico della Toscana). Over the years various buildings were constructed adjacent to the tower, which ended up being incorporated into the complex visible today. Then the church with the refectory and various structures serving the village were added, which, again according to Repetti, still had 350 inhabitants in 1784.
The complex (approximately 1,400 m²) is now in a state of neglect and in need of major renovation. Over the years the buildings have been used as a “quarry” for materials, but the hamlet retains its original structure and the division of the interior rooms is clearly recognizable. Due to its historical significance, part of the complex is listed as a culturally relevant site by the Soprintendenza.
If interested, the church present in the hamlet can be purchased by separate negotiation.
The property has some flat areas adjacent to the buildings (about 1,950 m²) that could be used for the creation of a terraced garden. On the other hand, the rest of the land is mainly covered by woods (5.1 ha with chestnut trees) and small areas now covered meadow (1.1 ha) but in the past used for grazing animals.
